Artist Statement

Welcome to Najahe, where adventure awaits!

I am Deno Marcum and I am the founder of Najahe. I chose this name, which means bent, crescent and is an alternative spelling of the darling naja pendant. The simple shape is sleek and elegant and I simply love making them.

I learned the art of silversmithing from my aunties. I was very young and would watch them create on our trips to visit family at the Navajo Reservation.  I must have watched them for many hours every day. They would bend wire, solder bezels add embellishments and set turquoise. Years later, on a visit to the land, my mind flashed back to the time spent watching family churn out stunning rings, bracelets and necklaces for sale. When I got home, I ordered a few materials and made my first turquoise ring.

I now design and hand fabricate jewelry using primarily Native American silversmithing techniques. My style incorporates traditional elements in silver and mixed metals. I regularly incorporate turquoise and other stones. I also use modern jewelry techniques such as copper fold-forming, and embrace a variety of styles in my craft. You will find many one of a kind treasures and Najahe as well as some collections that appeal to the masses.

Life is too short to settle for the ordinary. I consider my style as Western Bohemian with a touch of Modernist as applied with traditional Native American silversmithing techniques. I hope to offer a wide range of unconventional items that will make you stand out from the crowd. From high quality Bolo Ties and beautiful Naja’s to Tiddy Earings. Or you may find delight in a "Copper Bat Spinners" or a "Big Ass Pins", our collection is as bold and daring as you are.

Join me on this exhilarating journey as we push boundaries, break barriers, and redefine what it means to be a trendsetter. Whether you're looking for a conversation starter or a statement piece, Najahe is your go-to destination for all things extraordinary.

So, are you ready to embrace the unknown? Step into the world of Najahe and let your adventurous spirit soar. Your next great discovery awaits!

Best,

Deno
